3D - The Future of Pornography

TOKYO – Pornography could be the major catalyst for the sales of 3d TV television in Japan.

The controversial content is fuelling the 3d TV3D business in Japan, where a pair of porn stars are leading the charge in developing three-dimensional entertainment that is compatible with Sony and Panasonic televisions.

The adult film actresses Mika Kayama and Yuma Asami are reportedly releasing 3d TV DVDs to coincide with Sony’s launch of its 3D TV next month.

Following the same trend, It came as no surprise when Playboy launched a 3D centerfold early last month. “What would people most like to see in 3d TV? Probably a naked lady,” said Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy Enterprises.

Panasonic, Sony and Samsung are major 3d TV TV manufacturers. According to Reuters, French firms are banking on sports such as the World Cup and adult-content to drive 3D TV sales.

The ‘cult’ movie Avatar or family-friendly Happy Feet saw a leap in 3D TV sales.

3D TV will be an opportunity for companies and marketers in terms of innovation. Whatever the future will be for 3D television, you can bet Sony, Panasonic and a host of industry insiders will be watching the release of Japanese porn titles this month – whether they want to admit it or not
